Hey, I'm Hunter.

I'm a Senior at Montclair High School.

I belong to a small learning group called CGI. CGI is the Civic and Government Institute at Montclair High.

I wasn't interested in focusing on History in high school necessarily, but my best friends were all joining the program and I took a chance to be in class with them.

In this program, we do a lot of hands-on learning — like studying social movements, writing our own legislation, and debating at school. It’s a mix of History and English over three years, and it’s taught me how connected government is to our everyday lives.

In school I also belong to the Sports Analytics Club, three Fantasy Football Leagues, and the National Honor Society.  I am really into sports analysis and hope to pursue a career if not a special interest in that sector.

I've been a volunteer tutor for Succeed2Gether (a local organization that places a mentor with a student in need) for the past two years. Each school year, we are assigned a student that we meet with weekly to help in specific areas of study. I enjoy it because I can see the progression from start to finish and it gives me a sense of accomplishment to witness their journey but also I like being helpful.

As the Soccer Goalie for both the Montclair High School Boys Soccer team and the NJ Stallions Academy Club team, I'm passionate for sports and leadership, but also I just really love the game. Even off season my friend group gets together and plays friendly but competitive rec soccer.  My favorite professional soccer team is Lazio, and we recently discovered we have ancestry from that region in Italy, which was a surprise! We travel every year as a family and I'd love to visit Lazio one day and watch a pro match.  Soccer season is over now, as a Senior, and while I am enjoying the additional hours I have to focus on school and my college path, I do miss playing the game and the camaraderie of my team.

Off the field and out of school, I am a Pokemon enthusiast and trading card investor. I like to collect cards, attend conventions, and memorize statistics. I love the strategy involved in playing the game and have been an avid Pokemon fan for more than 10 years. I've started strategizing how to start a Pokemon Training Camp for kids.

During the busy hospitality season in Montclair,  I work as a food runner at Egan & Sons. I started working there when I was 15 and was the youngest non-family hire at the restaurant. I've learned quite a bit about the F&B (food and beverage) industry during my time at Egan's...but also I'm learning to work under pressure and communicate with customers.  I've sacrificed many Saturday nights with friends in order to keep my commitment to a work schedule and there are times I wish I could not show up, but I like my coworkers and want to save money.

At home, I am the oldest of two kids.  My little brother, Kingston, is one year younger than me and we are very close. Our family travels frequently due to our family business (in the hotel industry) so Kingston and I have core memories together in different states and countries, from Upstate New York to Tokyo. Traveling as a kid has instilled a desire to continue seeing the world, and I hope to pursue a Study Abroad program in college.

In my free time I like to hang with my brother and our friends,  play video games (FIFA, Mario, Madden),  train at the gym, and hang out with my girlfriend of two years.
